We did not see any grizzly bears, luckily! However, we saw a few black bears, which can incidentally be brown as well. Some areas are only accessible in groups of 6 or more people, as this reduces the risk of a bear attack.

The animal that causes most people to go to hospital is the squirrel, as they don't like to be stroked.

Apparently the most dangerous animal in the Canadian Rockies is the elk, who attacks virtually anything during Spring time and in Autumn.

Mountain goats have a reputation of killing themselves by starting avalanches - which grizzly bears love, since they get deep frozen mountain goats for supper once snow starts melting in Spring.

The whales we saw were mostly humpback whales, although we also saw a few killer whales.

The lovely beluga whale was photographed in an aquarium at Stanley Park in Vancouver.
